Automated External Defibrillators
According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death globally. In just the United States, 326,000 people annually will experience sudden cardiac arrest and it can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that when combined with CPR can provide lifesaving measures to a person in sudden cardiac arrest. Baylor University strives to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and The Department of Environmental Health & Safety has developed the Automated Defibrillator {AED} Program to allow access to potentially lifesaving defibrillation to persons experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.
