A. RCRA Hazardous Waste
RCRA Hazardous Waste – A waste material can be a hazardous waste in 2 ways. The first way is that the material exists on one of 4 lists of hazardous wastes and can be searched for using links found in the RCRA Hazardous Waste web pages and also in the pickup request system. If the waste is found on one of the 4 lists, there will be a specific waste code associated with that material. The second way for a material to be a hazardous waste is that the material has a characteristic that makes it a hazardous waste. There are four different characteristics to consider when evaluating whether a waste material could possibly be a hazardous waste. Any material that is deemed a hazardous waste must have at least one waste code assigned to it and multiple waste codes assigned to a material is common. Hazardous waste must be collected by EHS.
Without a RCRA waste code, a material is NOT a hazardous waste!
